Red Devils Rebound to Beat Bullets, 1-0
(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team turned in an outstanding team effort, to turn back visiting Gettysburg, 1-0, on Wednesday night. The Red Devils improve to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference.
The Red Devils struck with just one minute remaining in the first half, as senior Marissa Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) found the back of the net after a scramble on the left post, putting the Devils on the board with the lone goal of the night.
The Red Devils had just one shot in the first half, and made the most of it. The Bullets held the edge for the game, outshooting the Devils, 13-8, while Dickinson had the advantage on corners, 4-2. Dickinson was even on shots in the second half as each team fired off seven after the break.
Senior goaltender Annie Weichert (Chatham, Pa./Chatham) was solid in the nets, making eight saves on the night. Eliza Gray stopped four shots and made a strong save as a beautiful lead pass led to a Red Devils breakaway in the second half.
The Red Devils are on the road this weekend, traveling to Swarthmore College. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm, following the men's game at 4:00 pm.
