Devils Blank Marywood 3-0, Capture Red Devil Classic Title
(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's soccer team captured the 2012 Red Devil Classic title with a 3-0 win over Marywood University on Sunday afternoon. The Devils posted a 9-1 win over Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday. Wooster College went 2-0 over the weekend as well, posting a 1-0 win over Marywood on Saturday and a 5-0 victory over the Lions.
The Pacers played even throughout the first half, despite a solid 11-1 shot advantage for the Red Devils. Dickinson put its first goal on the board shortly after the break, scoring in the 50th minute as junior Olivia Licata (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) finished a beautiful cross from classmate Rosalin Savoie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton).
First-year Jenna Lamb (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) earned the Devils' second goal, hustling to challenge the Marywood goalkeeper, who made a great save on the first shot, but Lamb recovered the rebound and put the ball away with 16:08 remaining in the game. Lamb helped add another insurance goal, serving up an assist to Savoie over two minutes later to close out the scoring.
Emily Osborne made seven saves for Marywood while Victoria Pezdirtz came on and made one save. Sophomore Shannon Stoll made a great defensive play on the line in the first half, saving a goal as well to keep the game tied.
The Red Devils improve to 2-0 on the season. They are home again on Wednesday, hosting Penn State Altoona at 7:00 pm.
